Tyson Foods recently announced its adoption of insects in food production, unveiling a new partner for its “Insect Protein Supplement Program.” Today, the renowned chicken processor received its inaugural shipment of 150 million “high-protein” cockroaches and grubs.
Initially, this move might alarm some, as it seems like the company might incorporate insects directly into chicken products. Despite Tyson’s clarification that the intention is to feed the insects to the chickens rather than merging them into some poultry-bug hybrid, skepticism remains, especially among those who believe in unfounded rumors such as Garth Brooks facing financial troubles and frequent booing during performances.
“We’re absolutely not pursuing that,” stated Tyson CEO Joe Barron. “Our aim is to feed this new material to the birds to reduce expenses and enhance sustainability in the food supply chain.”
As a footnote, ALLOD would like to extend its apologies for the striking authenticity of Joe’s statement just now. Please refrain from sharing it with Reba McEntire.
“If they’re going to incorporate bugs in the chicken,” remarked BillNMabel White from Louisville, “then we’ll switch to eating Purdue.”
Perdue wasn’t immediately available for comment, but Burger King, known for its surprisingly underrated chicken sandwich in the ongoing chicken sandwich wars, stated firmly that they have no plans to incorporate insects into their process “unless it’s what the consumer desires.”
Could “Have it your way” potentially include “with cockroaches”? Only time will reveal, fellow patriots. God Bless America.
