When Jackie Fedro gave her 13-year-old daughter Gabbie a cellphone for Christmas in 2016, she never imagined it would lead to a terrifying accident.
One day, Jackie heard Gabbie scream from her room. The teen had been using her LG d500 phone while it was plugged in. The charging cable sent an electric current through the phone and into Gabbie’s metal necklace, causing painful second-degree burns around her neck.
Jackie said it was horrifying to see her daughter in so much pain and wants to warn other parents: even something as common as charging a phone can pose unexpected dangers.

With so many kids using devices, this scary incident is a reminder to always stay aware of hidden risks.
