Beautiful detail on Ozzy Ozbourne’s casket revealed as family and fans say goodbye

Ozzy Osbourne has been laid to rest in his hometown of Birmingham, with fans from around the world paying tribute to the legendary Black Sabbath frontman. On Wednesday, a funeral cortege made its way through the city streets ahead of a private family ceremony.

Dark purple flowers spelling “Ozzy” adorned his casket—honoring his signature color and gothic aesthetic. Nicknamed “The Prince of Darkness,” Ozzy passed away last week at age 76. His family said he was “surrounded by love” and asked for privacy.

Tributes flooded in from music legends like Elton John and Rod Stewart. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2003—made public in 2019—Ozzy remained active in both music and advocacy, raising millions for research and children’s causes.

Earlier this month, he performed a final concert in Birmingham with Black Sabbath, raising over £1 million. On July 30, the city held a public procession, stopping at the Black Sabbath Bridge, where fans left messages, flowers, and memorabilia.

Lord Mayor Zafar Iqbal described the event as “a fitting, dignified tribute.” The Osbourne family covered all funeral costs. Sharon, along with children Kelly, Jack, and Aimee, appeared visibly emotional as Bostin Brass played and the hearse paused for reflection.

Ozzy and Sharon were married for over 40 years. Sharon once described their love as a bond of soulmates, and Ozzy had said, “She’s the only one I’ve ever loved.”

In a 2011 essay, Ozzy joked about wanting pranks at his funeral and said he hoped it would be a celebration, not a sad affair. “I want it to be a time to say thanks,” he wrote.

Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell was just that—a celebration of life, legacy, and music. Fans are invited to share memories and honor the man who helped shape heavy metal forever.
