Colin Kaepernick faced another setback in his bid to return to professional football as the NFL’s ethics committee denied his request for “active status” this week. This effectively dashed any hopes the former quarterback had of participating in the league for at least another season.
“Active status would have allowed him to try out, seek coaching positions, pursue endorsements, and engage in other league-related activities,” explained Deputy Commissioner Joe Barron. “However, we’ve denied his petition for the 7th consecutive year. Perhaps he should explore selling hair products.”
Kaepernick asserts that he’s facing discrimination for spearheading the kneeling movement, which nearly prompted NFL boycotts. However, Barron clarified that the league is moving forward and isn’t inclined to reverse course. “We’re encouraging more coaches like Mike Tomlin to assertively guide players back to their professional responsibilities when they veer off course,” he added.
ALLOD Sports Analyst Tara Newhole describes the decision as a devastating setback for the former player.
“It’s truly disheartening. In this absurd satirical realm, he can’t even appear in Nike commercials without the endorsement of a nonexistent committee,” Newhole lamented.
Newhole perceives the league’s suggestion for Kaepernick to explore selling hair products as practical advice, devoid of any racial connotations. “I don’t subscribe to dog whistles,” she remarked. “If players can’t hear them, neither can I.”
It’s a perspective that aligns perfectly. God Bless America.
