It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Peter Morris, a 47-year-old father of two and the beloved owner of Little Dragon Pizza. Morris died after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind his wife Tracey and their children.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have expressed their heartfelt condolences, remembering Peter fondly after their meeting with him last year. The royals first encountered Morris in 2023 when they visited Dowlais Rugby Club in Merthyr Tydfil, where they purchased 12 pizzas from his business to support the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team.
When they learned of his death, William and Kate sent a touching letter to his wife, Tracey, expressing their sorrow: “We can only begin to imagine what an immense hole he will leave in your life. My heart goes out to you and your family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Morris had previously triumphed over oesophageal cancer, but sadly, just months after meeting the royals, he was diagnosed with adrenal gland and liver cancer. His passing came just four months after that memorable encounter.
The royal couple’s letter was read aloud at his funeral, a final tribute to a man whose kindness and dedication to his community left a lasting impression. In the message, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote:
“Catherine and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Pete and serving pizzas to everyone from the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team. We know Pete was a hugely dedicated and highly valued member of the community, as evidenced by the immense outpouring of love following his passing.”
The letter continued: “We hope you can take comfort in the profound impact Pete had on so many people. You and your family are in our thoughts at this difficult time.”
Morris’s death was announced on the social media page of Little Dragon Pizza, where tributes poured in from all corners of the community. The heartfelt response is a testament to the love and respect he earned as a local business owner and devoted father.
Peter Morris may be gone, but his legacy of warmth, generosity, and service to others will be remembered by all who knew him.
