Sylvester Stallone opted out of a $150 million Marvel project, citing it as “too woke for my liking.”

Sylvester Stallone, renowned as one of the hardest-working celebrities in Hollywood, consistently has new projects on the horizon. However, he recently announced that his schedule is clear for the next few months to a year after withdrawing from a Disney production with Marvel that could have potentially earned him $150 million.

“Too woke for my blood,” Stallone commented, expressing his decision to stick to the genre of movies that defined his career. “I’m not looking to jeopardize it.”

This choice was prudent, considering the nature of the movie he turned down. It was a Marvel film that would have required him to distance himself from his Christian roots, portraying an alien criminal who illegally enters the airspace of other species and robs them. Stallone’s manager, Joe Barron, remarked, “It’s a bit too risqué of a subject for him. Sly is leaning towards roles reminiscent of Rocky.”

Entertainment correspondent Tara Newhole from ALLOD Entertainment expressed confusion over the narrative surrounding Stallone’s decision, highlighting the inconsistency. “Stallone already portrayed a character in Guardians of the Galaxy, where he played the leader of a Ravager faction. And that movie was notably progressive.”

This incident underscores Stallone’s commitment to roles aligning with his values and career trajectory, regardless of potential financial gain.

Newhole clarified that “woke” refers to content containing elements that certain older individuals, despite unlikely encounters in their lives, have been conditioned to disapprove of. These elements include, for instance, representations of gay couples, compassion, and concern for matters beyond one’s immediate circle.

For now, let’s rejoice in the headline before us and hope it holds true. God Bless America.
