The 82-year-old’s personal office issued a statement today (May 18), saying:
“Last week, President Joe Biden underwent evaluation following a recent increase in urinary symptoms, which led to the discovery of a prostate nodule.
“On Friday, he received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, identified as a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), with evidence of bone metastasis.”
The statement added: “Although this form of cancer is considered more aggressive, it appears to be hormone-sensitive, making it responsive to available treatment options.”
Further updates are expected to be released as treatment progresses, but for now, the president is said to be continuing with his official duties as much as his health allows.
